Graduate Multimedia Fellows Seminar Application

The Graduate Multimedia Fellows Seminar is a new Teaching Certificate course offered at the Bok Center with the support of the Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching.

Over the course of the spring semester, the course will train graduate students in the theories, research, and skills necessary to design and evaluate multimedia assignments. Fellows will read recent education research and case-studies in multimedia teaching and learning, receive training in relevant media and technology, and hear from experienced faculty and multimedia practitioners. Relying on the resources and practice offered by the seminar, fellows will implement their own multimedia-centered classroom interventions or prepare their own case studies of courses that already use multimedia assignments. Together, fellows will generate and compile resources that will support multimedia pedagogies within the Harvard community. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a $500 stipend.

The seminar will meet Wednesdays, 2-4pm, at the Bok Center, starting February 6, 2013.

If you would like to participate in the Graduate Multimedia Fellows Seminar, please send your CV and a one-page statement of interest (single-spaced) to harvardgmfproject [at] gmail. In your statement of interest, you might discuss some, all, or none of the following:

• Previous experience with multimedia pedagogies and assignments (as a student or teacher)
• What you hope multimedia will help you accomplish in future teaching
• Effective or innovative multimedia communications you’ve noticed in your discipline or elsewhere

Please submit your application by January 20, 2013. Participants will be notified of acceptance by the end of January.
